Private Refineries In Akwa-Ibom With Kaduna Refineries Are Now Functional

With the fuel situation going on in Nigeria  the Akwa-Ibom  governor cautioned marketers against contravening the general code which he said, is punishable by law.
Emmanuel said: “Let’s not take things to the extreme. Yesterday no station was open in the state. I am of the view that if subsidy is removed, the interplay of market forces will bring down the price to where it should be.”
Ibe Kachikwu, minister of petroleum, recently said that Nigeria will continue to import fuel beyond 2016.
Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation announced in June, 2015, that the four refineries – two in Port Harcourt, one in Kaduna and the other one in Warri would resume production.
Also Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue, the managing director of Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC) said the refinery was reopened to meet up with the December deadline for the four refineries to return to full production.
The PPMC boss disclosed to Premium Times that the refinery is expected to begin trucking of petrol by the end of next week
”Kaduna refinery came back on stream on Saturday as scheduled and is running. PMS (Premium Motor spirit, also called petrol) should be available for trucking by the end of the week. The refinery is expected to produce an average of about 1.6 million litres of PMS daily once in full operation,” she said.

Nnamdi-Ogbue said resumption of production in other refineries would start before the end of the year.
According to her, production will start first at the 210,000 bpd-capacity Port Harcourt refinery which was shut-down in October while the 125,000 bpd-capacity Warri refinery will be the last to come back on stream.
As the refinery resumes production, there are hopes that it will cushion the effect of the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country.
The fact that PPMC is currently saddled with the responsibility of importing and supplying 100 per cent of the average 40 million litres daily national fuel consumption capacity compounds the model of distribution of the products across the country.
PPMC and the other oil marketers used to share the responsibility of importing fuel at the ratio of 52:48 but the major and independent oil marketers involved in the fuel importation programme in the country had opted out due to the backlog of unpaid fuel subsidy and accumulated foreign exchange differential.
According to the NNPC’s monthly operational report for October, the Kaduna refinery was temporarily shut down when its utilisation capacity dropped to about 2.6 per cent and 10.5 per cent respectively.
The Kaduna plant which is currently undergoing a test run of its production lines has the capacity to refine 110,000 barrels of crude oil a day.
The group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Ibe Kachikwu, had earlier issued a 90-day ultimatum to the managements of the four refineries shortly after his appointment last August.

According to the Nigerian Civil Aviation
Authority, NCAA, Daniel Adeyileka (pictured
above) is the youngest pilot in Nigeria.
He was born in 1995 in Newcastle, England and
had his primary and secondary education in
Scotland then came back to Nigeria to do his A-
levels. At 17, he proceeded to Delta Flight school
in Texas, USA, where he obtained his Private
Pilot License (PPL) and his International General
Certificate of Secondary Education. He is
currently a First Officer.

Kindly do a little bit of introduction?
My name is Daniel Adeyelika; I was born on
the 6th of February 1995 in Newcastle, England.
I have spent most of my life in the United
Kingdom, Indonesia, Nairn, Scotland and other
countries abroad. I had my elementary education
in Rose Bank Primary School, Nairn, Scotland,
from there I moved to Grantown Grammar
School also in Scotland where I completed my
secondary school. In 2008, I came back to
Nigeria and enrolled into Avicenna International
School, Ikeja, GRA. I finished in 2009. I equally
obtained my A-Levels in Greenville School, GRA.
It was right after my A-Levels that I went
straight to flying school in America
Where did you train?
I did my flight training in Texas, Dallas with
Delta Flight School for nine (9) months. I knew I
went there for a reason and not to play, I
needed all the concentration, I go to school from
Monday to Sunday. My Private Pilot License
(PPL) was for one and a half month and my
International General Certificate of Secondary
Education (IGCSE) was for three years.
During your training, were you teased for being
the youngest in your class?
I was never teased but I was the youngest in my
class and got along with everybody but there
was a time I could not write certain exams due
to my age, there were restrictions. I was asked
to wait until I turned 18 years before I can do
my commercial, so I was just reading all
through those periods.
What were your challenges during training?
The challenge basically was when I was sent to
Amsterdam for my Type Rating, it was really the
toughest period I cant lie to you because it was
not an easy task. I actually thought I was going
to fail because I was the weakest in the class at
the beginning but I came top of the class at the
end. I kept telling my self “I can do it.” God
really saw me through. The exercise lasted for
one month. The challenge basically was when I
was sent to Amsterdam for my Type Rating, it
was really the toughest period I cant lie to you
because it was not an easy task. I actually
thought I was going to fail because I was the
