Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Awarded "International Person Of The Year"

Goodluck Jonathan seems to be going from zero to hero.Jonathan, 58, was named the ‘Person of the Year’ by The African Sun Times, Africa’s number one and largest newspaper in the United States of America (USA).
The former president conceded defeat to incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari, via a phone call even before the results of the presidential elections were announced
That singular seem act seem to have elevated the status of the Otuoke-born to a global citizen and as a reference for African leaders, who are known for holding on to power for too long.
In October 2015, Jonathan was named the chairman of the Commonwealth Observer Group for the presidential election in Tanzania.
In November 2015, Jonathan rounded off a two-week visit to the USA with a meeting with students of the Howard University School of Political Science where he was the special guest at the university event with the theme: “Elections And Constitutions In Africa: A Timely Issue”.
In December 2015, one of Nigeria’s online newspapers, The Trent named Jonathan the Person of the Year 2015.
Meanwhile, Jonathan has been invited to present the keynote address at the 2016 Hope Global Forums conference, billed to hold this month in Atlanta, USA.

Jonathan Talks With Buhari Secretly

Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Thursday night paid a secret visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.The Special Adviser to the President on Media
and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed the former president's visit and meeting with Buhari on Sunday.
Adesina however did not disclose the purpose of the meeting as no third party nor photographs were allowed at the venue of the
meeting.
The visit was the first meeting between the former president and President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa since Jonathan
left in the morning of May 29 for the Eagles Square, where Buhari took his oath of office and allegiance as President and Commander-In-
Chief. Jonathan had before the expiration of his tenure begged President Muhammadu Buhari
not to probe only his administration but extend the probe to previous administrations too.

Jonathan Said "I Remain Grateful"

Jonathan on Friday in Yenagoa said he
remained grateful to Bayelsa people for the
support he enjoyed during his political
career from 1999 to date.
Jonathan, who expressed his gratitude at
the civic reception organised in his honour
by Bayelsa government, said that he was
honoured to have been found worthy of
public service.
He expressed appreciation to the state
government for organising the civic
reception, adding that he would dedicate
the remaining part of his life to peace
building across the country.
"Having befitted so much from the rare
privilege of serving, I shall dedicate the
remaining part of my life to peace building
in all parts of Nigeria.
"I will urge all to support the new
administration to develop Nigeria and
work with the state government to develop
our own state," Jonathan said.
Speaking earlier, Gov. Seriake Dickson
said that the administration organised the
reception to express appreciation to
Nigerians for giving Jonathan the
opportunity to lead the country for the past
six years.
He said that the state was receiving the
former president with mixed feelings of
gloom and gratitude.
He also said that the period was a trying time
for the Niger Delta people but said that
there was hope in the horizon.
"We are down but not out and for those
who are happy at our situation that we
shall rise again," Dickson said.
