WAEC Records Mass Failure In This Year's Exam
West African Examination Council WAEC
yesterday released the examination results of the
2014 West African Senior School Certificate May/
June exam recording mass failure in core
subjects including English and Yoruba.
Announcing the results, yesterday, at WAEC
office, Yaba, the Head of National Office, WAEC,
Mr. Charles Eguridu said: “A total of 529,425
candidates, representing 31.28 per cent,
obtained credits in five subjects and above,
including English Language and Mathematics.”
He noted that when compared to the 2012 and
2013 May/June WASSCE results, there was
marginal decline in the performance of candidates
as 38.81 per cent was recorded in 2012 and
36.57 per cent in 2013.
Eguridu, who disclosed that the results of
145,795 candidates, representing 8.61 per cent,
are being withheld in connection with various
types of examination malpractice said: “The
cases are being investigated and the reports of
the investigations will be presented in November
to the Nigeria Examinations Committee, NEC.
”According to him, out of 1,692,435 candidates
that sat for the examination, 791,227 candidates,
representing 46.75 per cent, obtained six credits
and above, just as a total of 982,472 candidates
representing 58.05 per cent, obtained five credits
and above.
In addition, he stated that 1,148,262 candidates,
representing 67.84 per cent, obtained credits
and above in four subjects, while 1,293,389
candidates, representing 76.42 per cent,
obtained credits and above in three subjects.
He said out of the 161 visually-handicapped
candidates, who registered for the examination,
21 of them, representing 14 per cent obtained
credits in five subjects, including English
language, adding, “blind candidates do not take
mathematics and science practicals in the
WASSCE.”
In his analysis, he said: “A total of 1,705,976
candidates registered for the examination, out of
which 1,692,435 candidates, consisting of
929,075 male and 763,360 female candidates
sat for the examination.
“Of the total number of candidates that sat for the
examination, 1,605,613 candidates, representing
94.87 per cent have their results fully released,
while 86,822 candidates, representing 5.13 per
cent have a few of their subjects still being
processed due to some errors, mainly traceable
to laxity on the part of the candidates and the
schools, in the course of registration or writing
the examination.
“Such errors are being corrected by the Council
to enable the affected candidates get their results
fully processed and released as soon as they are
ready.
”Meanwhile, to curb examination
malpractice, WAEC has announced the
introduction of ICT-driven device which will
enable supervisors and staff of the Council on
duty to address and record in real time the
processes on the day of the examination.
The HNO said: “With effect from the May/June
2014 WASSCE, the Council introduced a device
known as Candidates Identity Verification,
Attendance, Malpractice and Post Examinations
Management System, CIVAMPEMS.
“This ICT-driven device enables supervisors and
staff of the Council on duty, to address and
record in real time the processes on the day of
the examination.
“These include identity verification, capturing and
recording occurrences as they happen, such as
candidates’ attendance and examination
malpractice and transmit same to our data base.
“With this, the Council is able to generate valid
examination reports for each examination
centre.”
He noted that the Council, beginning with the
November/December 2014 WASSCE, will
introduce customised, transparent mathematical
sets, with in-built non-programmable scientific
calculators, which conform with the rules and
regulations of its examinations.
He urged all prospective candidates, for both the
May/June and November/December WASSCE
diets to note that, henceforth, bringing in any
other non-approved mathematical set or
calculator into examination halls would not be
allowed.
“Models of the WAEC-customised mathematical
set would be made available to schools to assist
them in preparing their candidates for the
Council”s examinations,” he said.
He also said that “the Council, with effect from
2014 WASSCE, is introducing biometric enabled
certificates.
Each certificate will have a QR code with details
of the candidate’s biometrics.”

Ariana Grande Dating Rapper Big Sean:"New Couple Have Been Getting Very Close"
New (and a bit surprising) couple alert!
It looks like singer Ariana Grande and rapper Big
Sean have taken their friendship to a new level. A
source tells E! News that the pair, who worked on
Grande's hit "Problem" together, are dating.
"They have been friends since they made the song
together. They have been spending more time
together and recently have been getting very
close. They are both doing great," the source tells
us. Big Sean's rep had no comment on the matter,
while Grande's rep has yet to respond.
Arianna and Big Sean were also spotted at The
Grove in Los Angeles after leaving the theater
from a late showing of The Purge.
An eyewitness tells E! News the duo came in
about a quarter way into the movie, and only
about three people recognized them. Source also
claims that he saw the pair kissing during the
film, and left before it was over.
Earlier this month, E! News exclusively broke that
Ariana ended things with her 19-year-old Aussie
boyfriend Jai Brooks last month. "When her
grandfather was dying, everyone was there for
her. People flew to Florida to be with her, but Jai
didn't," the source said. "Ariana just felt he
wasn't there like he should have been."
Meanwhile, the rapper was engaged to Glee star
Naya Rivera but the pair ended up splitting in
April after Big Sean, "made the difficult decision to
call the wedding off." Following the public
breakup, Rivera shocked everyone by marrying
actor Ryan Dorsey in a super secret Mexico
wedding three months later.
Jennifer Lopez Shows Off Her Backside In Revealing Shorts
She can dance. She can sing. Oh, and she can
work legs for days.
Jennifer Lopez stepped out in Beverly Hills, Calif.,
Monday where she couldn't help but show off her
fabulous figure.
The 45-year-old mother of two headed to a few
morning meetings wearing a long-sleeved button
down blouse with matching shorts. She completed
her ensemble with white pumps and jewelry.
Although her shorts looked super comfy (and
cute), photographers managed to snap a pic that
showcases part of the American Idol judge's
backside.
Lopez's sexy summer outfit comes one day after
the "Dance Again" singer surprised viewers at the
2014 Teen Choice Awards by reuniting with her
Maid in Manhattan costar, Tyler Posey.
12 years after costarring in the 2002 romantic
comedy, Posey asked if he could work with the
talented star again.
"I thought that maybe if you needed a backup
dancer, I'd fit," Posey said during the show.
"What do you think?"
Although his moves were far from impressive,
Lopez was still more than excited to see her
movie son again.
"Aww look at Ty all grown up!! @i_love_harveys
#teenchoiceawards," Lopez wrote after the show.
Jonathan Calls First Ebola Victim A 'Madman'
President Goodluck Jonathan on
Monday branded a Liberian-American a
"madman" for bringing Ebola into Nigeria, as
the country announced its 10th confirmed case
of the deadly virus.
Patrick Sawyer died in a Lagos hospital on July
25 in the country's first case of Ebola, which
has claimed the lives of nearly 1 000 people in
West Africa since the start of the year.
The 40-year-old, who was to have attended a
meeting of the regional bloc ECOWAS
(Economic Community of West African States),
was taken to hospital after arriving in Lagos on
a flight from Monrovia via the Togolese capital,
Lome.

panic about Ebola
A nurse who treated him died last week, while
tests last weekend confirmed that another had
also contracted the virus. Eight others have
also tested positive, the government said.
"It is unfortunate that one madman brought the
Ebola to us but we have to contain it,"
Jonathan told faith leaders at a conference in
the capital, Abuja, vowing the government
would do "everything possible" to combat its
spread.
Nigeria had until last month been spared from
Ebola, which has spread alarmingly in Guinea,
Sierra Leone and Liberia.
But its arrival has sown fear throughout the
countr. The authorities in sub-Saharan Africa's
largest city have appealed for volunteers
because of a shortage of medical personnel,
exacerbated by a month-long doctors' strike.
A number of measures to tackle the spread of
Ebola, which is passed on through direct
contact with an infected person displaying
symptoms, have already been announced.

experimental drug
Jonathan last week declared a national
emergency in line with World Health
Organization (WHO) advice to affected countries
to trigger disaster response procedures.
Greater funding has been promised to set up
additional isolation centres, border screenings
and contact tracing, while Nigerians have been
told to avoid large gatherings.
'Crazy man'
In his address, Jonathan told faith leaders to
help get the message across and also to pay
close attention to traditional burial ceremonies,
given that the Ebola virus is transmissible from
dead bodies.
"We must advise our people not to over-
celebrate burial now," he said.
Jonathan said that Sawyer contracted Ebola
because his sister died from the infection and
he attended her funeral.
"(He) became a suspect. And the country
(Liberia) asked him not to leave the country so
that he will be observed but the crazy man
decided to smuggle himself out and now we are
suffering because of it," he added.
Following strict professional health advice was
now paramount, Jonathan said, adding: "If we
manage it well we can get over it in two months
and we will return to our normal lives."

The WHO said on Friday there were 13 probable
and suspect cases of Ebola, including two
deaths, in Nigeria.
The global health body is discussing the
possible use of an experimental treatment to try
to stem the spread.
Health minister Onyebuchi Chukwu pleaded for
the National Medical Association to call off its
strike, with the union split between those who
want to return to work to tackle the crisis and
those intent on staying out.
The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS)
meanwhile said it had activated all its
volunteers to get across preventative measures
to the public, particularly seeking early medical
advice and treatment.
Secretary-general Bello Hamman Diram said 18
volunteers were assisting in areas such as
contact tracing, health promotion, case
management and public information schemes.
Some 300 other volunteers will be deployed to
help the federal and Lagos State governments
in providing protective equipment as well as
educational and hygiene materials.
Cesc Is The Future-Mourinho
Jose Mourinho heralded Cesc
Fabregas as Chelsea's new playmaker in place
of the departed Frank Lampard and urged fans
to greet him and his squad before Chelsea's
first home friendly in eight years.
Chelsea meet Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge
and plan to parade their full senior squad on the
pitch before the sold-out match.
"Lampard is our history, but Fabregas is our
future, Mourinho told the club website, adding
that both he and his players believe the
Spaniard is the right man to play in central
midfield.
"Frank is the history of the club, history nobody
can forget," said Mourinho. "Fabregas is the
future. History is history, but the future is more
important at the moment."
"My opinion, and the opinion of my players, is
that Fabregas is the right player to occupy that
central position in midfield."
Chelsea beat Ferencvaros 2-1 in Budapest in a
friendly courtesy of goals from Ramires and
Fabregas, who impressed after his introduction
at the interval.
"They (Ferencvaros) fought for a result until the
last minute and that was good for us," said
Mourinho. "They competed and that was
important."
Fabregas' solo goal capped a fine display that
convinced many observers that he will be a
more than adequate successor to all-time
Chelsea top scorer Lampard.
Lampard, 36, left Chelsea in June to join MLS
outfit New York City. He is currently on loan
with English champions Manchester City.
In another website message, the club said
Mourinho requested that supporters going to
the sold-out match at Stamford Bridge arrive in
time to herald a parade of the entire first team
squad.
"It is the first time we have hosted a friendly at
our home since 2006 - and it promises to be a
memorable evening, with the sold-out crowd
given the opportunity to welcome each of the
players," said the club.
After signing midfielder Fabregas, striker Diego
Costa, left-back Filipe Luis and returning club
legend, striker Didier Drogba, along with recalled
loanees defender Kurt Zouma and goalkeeper
Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea are tipped as
favourites to depose Manchester City as
Premier League champions.
The English Premiership starts on Saturday,
August 16 but Chelsea are not in action until
they visit promoted Burnley on Monday - a
fixture for which Mourinho is confident his team
will be perfectly prepared.
"It's been a difficult pre-season because we
started with seven players," said Mourinho.
"After that, step by step, players were arriving
after the World Cup and holidays."
"Finally, in this last week, we've had everybody
together, but obviously not everyone is
prepared. For example, (Branislav) Ivanovic has
been training for one month, (Andre) Schurrle
has trained for five days."
"So there is a big difference between players.
We have to play the first league match next
weekend and we will be ready for that."
How Much Does It Cost To Eat?
Everyone feeds and as nutrition is a
fundamental characteristic of biotic
construction, there is none alive that does not
eat! While a lot of us may be averse to eating
out, there are those as few as they may be,
who take flights (e.g. Abuja to Lagos) to
savour that special treat at that renowned
cove- that is as bad as it is; as good as it
gets.
I fondly remember how during a cholera
outbreak in Abeokuta (later denied...) people
still ate out. Ironically, a doctor contracted the
epidemic right in the Emergency Unit; yes,
without having to eat out. Something about a
patient's vomitus splashing... (I hereby save
you the gory details.)
With safety and hygiene no longer valid points
in the debate, those of us that do not eat out
insist it is rather cost-effective, a stance that is
perpetually challenged by those that do,
particularly on the basis that the variety,
adventure, freedom, that one enjoys eating out
far surpasses whatever profits one may realise
otherwise.
So... Just how much do you save when you
choose to cook rather than eat out frequently?
And why should it even concern you?
If you are a student you must have avoided
asking the latter question since you very well
understand why it concerns you. Indeed in an
economy where resources are scarce
maximization is the rule rather than the
exception. As a bachelor, should I swallow my
ego and trounce Ughelli main market in search
of Maggi and pepper or eat out at my
innominate regular spot with my cloven? By the
way the answer is 60%.
You save 60%.
Now to the matter...
Let's examine the facts using a thirty-food
serving period. How much would it cost you to
eat to satisfaction 3 times a day for 10 days?
At a very conservative estimate of 400 naira per
meal you require 12 000 naira. Why is this
conservative? Do I even need to expatiate on
that?
Apart from the need to be served double
portions you are more likely to pay above
budget for the cow head, the orobo (big; 50cL)
coke or the extra side of beef. Yet, this
assumes you live within walking distance from
your favourite food vendor. It also presumes
you will strictly avoid forays into the more
illustrious fast food joints such as Mr Biggs,
McDonald's,... (No offense intended.)
How much do you require for 3 times a day
homemade meals for 10 days.
Say you focused on the staples rice, beans,
garri and yam. A basket of rice here costs 900
naira consisting of 24 peak milk cups.
Assuming 2 milk cups per meal it comes to 12
servings. An average 300-naira tuber of yam
goes for 2 servings; half a basket of beans of
450 naira goes up to 12 servings especially
when you add potatoes of say 200. A basket of
garri for 350 would last you at least 7 servings-
if you are not feeding to be sold, that is.
Already past 30 servings.
Next is the tricky part: soup and stew. But it
does not defy analysis.
Well priced, 800 naira worth of meat should
outlast 12 servings of rice. So will 400 naira
worth of fish for 6 servings. Another 1 700 naira
should get you more than enough melon,
pepper, tomatoes and other condiments in
addition to energy. I'm assuming you use the
more energy efficient gas cooker or if a student,
the very pocket friendly electric cooker. Not so
energy friendly though.
In total you've just spent 5 100 naira procuring
your 33 plus servings. Correcting for the extra
servings leaves you with an unbelievably high
(above) 60% savings. But how can this be?
Could it possibly be that much?
Well, consider what you pay for: convenience
(or inconvenience) depending on how easily you
can procure your meals, not having to do the
dishes, being waited on by canteen staff, etc.
You also pay for the time these persons put
into these efforts which is understandable if you
have a demanding, time-consuming, job. They
after all say time is money.
This all seems very textbook and prone to
flaws. It would for instance cost me more to
prepare Edi (the Igbo draw-soup) but falls into
perspective when you pay 2 000 for single
serving of same in a two star hotel.
More importantly, this model also assumes that
the meals you make would be edible if not
palatable.
Personally, I remain grateful to my mum for
leaving me no choice but to learn to cook. For
those who missed kitchen posting, it may be
time to consider marrying. Indeed couples save
more money when they eat from the same pot
as compared to individually. This is so as it
may not be necessary to double all costs. For
instance, energy expenditure remains near
constant.
I think I have made my point. I refuse to dwell
on the economics of spending a million or two
in order to save on feeding costs. That is a
discussion for a later date.
Details On New Ebola Vaccine
Officials from the World Health
Organisation WHO said that the first round of
clinical trials of a potential Ebola vaccine made
by GlaxoSmithKline may begin next month and
the vaccine could possibly be available by 2015,
MSN News reported on Sunday.
Experimental medicine
According to NBC News, a "level 1 activation"
response has typically been reserved for only
the most dire and pressing emergencies, such
as the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 or
the bird flu outbreak in 2009. The CDC has
already committed 50 more staff people to fly
to the area of the outbreak over the next month,
and more could follow.
Meanwhile, medical ethicists will meet next
week to discuss who should have access to the
limited supplies of an experimental medicine for
the deadly Ebola virus, the WHO said.
Also read: Did you know? No vaccines for
Ebola!
The drug was given to and benefited Dr. Kent
Brantly and Nancy Writebol, two American aid
workers who contracted the disease in West
Africa. It was the first time the drug was tried
on people, NBC News reported.
The maker of the drug has said it can't produce
large amounts of the experimental medicine,
which means only a limited number of patients
will be able to receive it. There is no certified
vaccine or cure for Ebola.
"We are in an unusual situation in this
outbreak," WHO official Dr. Marie-Paule Kieny
said in a statement, NBC reported. "We need to
ask the medical ethicists to give us guidance on
what the responsible thing to do is."
People Flee As Passenger Slumps,Dies At Lagos Airport
There was confusion at the Arrival Hall
of the Murtala Muhammed
International Airport on Monday, as a
passenger slumped and died.
Sources at the airport told us that
the passenger slumped in front of the
Port Health Services office, while
waiting to collect his vaccination card,
usually known as Yellow Card.
Some staff and passengers fled the
scene following the man’s collapse, as
they feared he was infected with the
deadly Ebola Virus Disease.
His body was covered with an orange-
coloured cloth and left unattended to by
the office. However, the area was
barricaded to forestall people coming
there, as people were redirected to pass
other routes.
Our correspondent gathered that the
dead man was supposed to fly to Ghana
for medical check-up when he suddenly
collapsed at the airport and died.
It was also gathered that the passenger,
who was of middle age, may be of Ibo
origin.
A lady that was seen accompanying him
before his sudden death was seen
making calls to their relatives in Igbo
language, telling them what happened.
The sad incident, which happened at
the arrival floor, set fear in the spine of
passengers and other airport officials
that witnessed what happened.
The female relative of the dead man,
who was crying, was quoted as saying,
“Ceekay, please get up; Ceekay, please
get up”.
Meanwhile, a statement later released
by the General Manager, Corporate
Communications of the Federal Airports
Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Yakubu Dati,
gave the late passenger’s name as Mr.
Akunne Osei.
It noted that the deceased was tested for
the Ebola virus and the result later
came in negative.
The statement said, “FAAN wishes to
inform the public that a Nigerian
passenger, residing in Accra, who
arrived Lagos for business transactions
aboard an Arik Air flight on Friday
August 8, 2014, has died at the Murtala
Mohammad Airport, Ikeja, on his way
back to Accra.
“The passenger, Osei, took ill on
Saturday August 9 and started stooling.
When the situation got worse, he called
his doctor in Accra, who instructed him
to return to Ghana immediately for
further treatment.
“During boarding formalities for his
return trip to Accra at the international
terminal of MMA, Osei, who had
obviously become weak at this time,
was subjected to Ebola Virus test by
port health officials, the result of which
was negative. No further attention was
paid to him after his Ebola Virus result
read negative but the passenger later
slumped and died around the port
health office.”

5 Useful Dating Tips For Men & Women
We all know men and women are from
different planets, but what if we looked for the
similarities? Maybe we could hook up more...
The good people at Newszoom asked a bunch of
men and women advice and dating and collected
all the best gender neutral advice. Here are the
top five tips:
1. Be open minded. Don’t go walking in there
having a checklist of things the other person has
to have to qualify to date you. You’re not the
CEO of love.
2. Don’t research the applicants. Definitely
don’t stalk them on social media. You will have
made up your mind before you see them. Made
up your mind wrong.
Also read: Hot sex position: Missionary Mondays
3. Don’t bring along baggage. It’s a date, not a
flight to a two week funeral procession abroad.
4. Be honest. That one is pretty obvious.
5. Leave on a high note. Ever noticed how good
performance leave after they play their biggest
hit? Do that. Don’t walk off stage after you
played one of the deep cuts off that obscure
release.

“Yinka was so active when we were
younger but now? 2 minutes and he is

and he is no where to be found. His early
ejaculation is so so frustrating. What do I
do?” Vanessa. Gwarimpa, Abuja
“Abdul’s weak erections continue to make
our sex lives non existent. I thought it was
just a temporary thing but a year later,
there has been no change. I have tried to

Man Who Specialises In Killing Women,Having Sex With Corpses Arrested In Ebonyi
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man,
Chukwuma (surname withheld), who
allegedly specialised in killing
Women and having sex with their dead
bodies in Ebonyi State. The suspect
allegedly killed three women along farm
pathways in the area and had sex with
them.
The state Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO), Mr. Chris Anyanwu, who
confirmed the incident, said the suspect
was arrested after the police set him up
with a girl along a farm pathway and
he came out to strangle the girl to
death.
According to reports, anyanwu said the
suspect, who is a painter, confessed to
the crime and said he did it because his
people refused to stop calling him a
nickname he (suspect) hated.
The PRO said the suspect after killing
the last woman stole her N8,500 and
used it to buy handset and drink local
gin.
The PRO said:
“We nabbed him after placing
surveillance at a particular farm,
where he usually waylays women
who are going to farm or coming
back from farm. We got the
information that he had killed
three women in the same way. He
has the habit of waylaying the
women on lonely bush path.
Whenever a woman passes through
the place he pounces on her and
strangles her to death and has sex
with the dead body. One of these
women’s name is Anyigor from the
same village. On July 15, she went
to farm at a place called Okwulike
but never returned. Then, when he
was later arrested, he (the suspect)
confessed that he was hanging
around that farm area when he saw
the woman who is late now, and
pounced on her, strangled her to
death by grabbing her neck region
until she gave up before he had sex
with the dead woman and robbed
her of N8,500, which he found on
her.The suspect said he used the
money to buy Nokia handset phone
and used the remaining money to
drink local gin called ‘kaikai’.
The second incident happened a
week after, on July 23, the victim is
Mrs. Helen, a 54-year-old woman,
who went to Egiagu village to farm
and never returned.So, alarmed by
her non-return, her son alerted the
villagers and a search party later
found her dead body along the
lonely farm path. When Chukwuma
was arrested, he confessed that he
strangled the woman the same way
he strangled the other two
women.When interrogated, the
suspect said his annoyance was that
people from that community called
him a nickname ‘Sogbodo’, adding
that he had warned people to desist
from calling him the name but they
continued.”

"I Killed My Wife Because She Gave Me HIV"-Suspect
The Lagos State Police Command has
arrested a man, Phillip Katongu, for
allegedly stabbing his wife to death.
The police said the victim, Justina, was
stabbed to death in a street at Oniru
Estate, Maroko, Lagos, where she and
her husband were living.
Justina was stabbed in about three
places before she died. Also, the knife
used for the murder had been
recovered by the police.
Justina, who hailed from Kauro, Kaduna
State, did not have any child for the
suspect before her death.
According to reports , Katongu, who
worked as a construction worker on the
Victoria Island, had a wife outside the
marriage in Nasarawa State before
marrying the deceased.
However, after having allegedly killing
the wife, Katongu was said to have also
attempted to commit suicide before the
neighbours forced the door open and
rushed him to a nearby hospital where
he was revived.
Forty-five-year-old Katongu, told
policemen that he killed his wife
because she infected him with the
Human Immunodeficiency Virus,
among other misdeeds.
He said,
“I married Justina, my second wife
in December 2010. I later learnt
that she had given birth to two girls
for a man. The girls died of
AIDS.However, when we first met,
she did not tell me all these. I
explained to her that I have a wife
with children and I wanted to
marry her too. Before marriage, I
told her we should go to hospital to
conduct HIV test, but she refused
and said that she was HIV negative.
So we started sleeping together.”
Katongu added that without his
knowledge, his wife had been going to
Abuja for medical treatment every three
months for HIV, until March 2013 when
she took him along.
He said it was at the hospital that she
disclosed her HIV status to him.
He said,
“I was angry and told the doctor
who equally blamed her for not
disclosing it to me. The doctor then
tested me, and I was positive. We
came back to Lagos and continued
with the relationship because I
loved her. But suddenly, she told
me she wanted to pack out from my
house that she was no longer
interested in marrying me having
had another person in Abuja. In
fact, the man usually called her on
phone while we were
together.I told her that with her
status, she should not go and be
infecting people with the virus.
And that I will kill her and kill
myself. We started fighting and I
stabbed her. It was in the early
hours. I stabbed her three times
with a knife. She shouted and
people were knocking at our
door.After she died, I stabbed
myself, and the people broke the
door open. I woke up to find myself
in a hospital. I feel very bad that I
killed my wife. I loved her very
much.”

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Previews Shark Week Tribute For Paul Walker
Dwayne Johnson is paying tribute to his dear
friend, Paul Walker, in a very special way.
The Fast & Furious star took to Instagram
Saturday evening where he shared a short video
clip that honors Walker's dedication to marine life.
"[I] Was moved to shoot this very special intro to
one of Paul Walker's final missions for shark and
marine conservation," Johnson wrote on
Instagram. " #DiscoveryChannel #SharkWeek
#ProtectingThatWhichILove
#MissYouBrotherPaul."
In the video shot for Discovery's Shark Week,
which kicks off Sunday night, The Rock looks
back at the actor's life both on and off screen.
"Paul Walker was not only an incredible actor,
dear friend, loving and devoted father..." he
explains, "but he was also a champion for shark
and marine life conservation whose efforts
inspired so many."
Walker had been involved with sharks and Shark
Week in the years prior to his death.
In fact, long before he made it big in Hollywood,
Walker studied marine biology in college. He
would later use his celebrity for good by
participating in The BillFish Foundation.
Walker's life was cut short when he passed away
in a car crash on Nov. 30, 2013. He is expected to
appear in the upcoming Fast & Furious 7 movie.
Cowfoot Porridge Recipe
Cowfoot Porridge can also be Cowfoot & Yam
Pepper Soup if you add enough water to it. I
prefer mine a bit watery.
Nigerian Cowfoot Porridge [Video]
Prepare and serve this on a cold rainy day and
you will be glad you did!
Ingredients for Cowfoot Porridge
720g (1.5 lbs) cow foot
12 medium cubes white puna yam
1 teaspoon ground Ehu (Calabash Nutmeg)
1 teaspoon black pepper
Habanero pepper (to your taste)
1 big onion
2 big stock cubes
Salt (to taste)
5 Scent leaves
Notes about the ingredients
1. 720g of cow foot may sound like a lot but cow
foot is mostly bones.
2. Cow foot is quite tough so if you have a pressure
cooker, use it for cooking it to save time and gas/
electricity. I cook mine for 15 minutes (counting
from when the pot is pressurized).
3. Ehu (Calabash Nutmeg) is a very traditional
ingredient that is difficult to find outide Nigeria. If
you can't buy it where you live, skip it. Ordinary
nutmeg is not an alternative to this because they
are not similar in any way. If you have friends or
family in Nigeria, they will be able to buy ehu
seeds and send to you, a small quantity goes a
long way.
4. Scent leaves give this meal a nice taste. Great
alternatives are parsley and basil.
Before you make the Cowfoot Porridge
1. Cut the cow foot into medium chunks. Where I
live, the butchers cut it for me.
2. Peel the yam and cut into medium cubes.
3. Pound/grind the habanero pepper.
4. Grind the ehu.
5. Cut the onion into 2 to 4 big chunks.
6. If using scent leaves or basil, use your finger tips
to tear the leaves into medium pieces. No need to
cut parsley.
Directions
1. Rinse and put the cow foot chunks in a pot.
2. Add enough water to cover the meat. If you want
the porridge as thick as that of Yam Porridge , add
less water.
3. Add chunks of onion. I use chunks of onion when
I don't want pieces of onion in what I'm cooking.
4. Add the stock cubes (crushed), black pepper,
ground ehu (calabash nutmeg) and habanero
pepper.
5. Cover the pot and cook the cowfoot till done to
your liking. If using a pressure pot, when done,
depressurize under running water and set the pot
back on the stove.
6. Add the yams and some salt. Cover and cook till
the yams are well done. If using a pressure pot,
there's no need to pressurize it this time.
7. When the yams are cooked to your liking, remove
the big chunks of onion and add the vegetables.
8. Stir and it's ready to be served.
Serve piping hot with a chilled drink: palm wine,
beer or stout and soft drinks.

Veteran filmmaker, Tunde Kelani has
joined the fight against Ebola virus by recruiting
top Nollywood acts for an awareness campaign,
reports Movie Moments.
Sources say that an international health
organization from the United Kingdom gave the
film maker the green light to shoot the advert
on the deadly virus following its first case in
Nigeria.
On the set of the campaign are Halima
Abubakar, Yomi Fash Lanso, Kunle Afolayan,
Toyin Aimakhu Johnson and Funky Mallam.
Currently about 8 persons have been confirmed
have contacted the virus, and have been
quarantined by the federal government.
A Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer died in Lagos
on July 25 after testing positive to the Ebola
virus.
The man is said to have collapsed on arrival in
Lagos, and was taken from the airport and put
in isolation at a local hospital.

"I'm Just Laughing"-Burna Boy's Mother Reacts To His Decision Not To Get Married
In the past weeks, Burnaboy posted
some interesting tweets. The first was
officially firing his mother as his
manager and the second was saying he
is never getting married. In a chat with
Punch,she addressed both issues .
“The boy is 23 and if he feels that
at his age he would not marry, he
can change his mind in five years.
He can even change his mind
tomorrow. I am just laughing that
he said he would not get married.
How many people have said that in
the industry and are married
today? When I was younger, I
remember saying that I would not
get pregnant when I saw pregnant
women but now, I have three
children,”
On firing her as his manager
“I was not in the country when the
story broke and I have said I would
not make any comment on it
because it is totally unimportant.
Whether I am his manager or not,
he is my child and there is no role
bigger than that. I am so shocked
about how people made a big deal
of the issue. I am not a musician or
an entertainer, so I don’t owe
anyone an explanation but he has
done enough.
“They should just leave the poor
boy alone. I am not a twitter
reading person; I talk to him on a
daily basis, so I am not interested
in what is on twitter. I have
absolutely no problem with my
child and as far as his career goes, I
still do what I have to do. I still do
everything I used to do but I cannot
always do everything. I was out of
the country for about eight weeks,
how much can I do? There is no
issue with us and there is no reason
to feel anyhow. It is something we
discussed and I still do what I have
to do, I still manage some of his
accounts, transactions and
endorsements but I can’t do
everything. There is no issue there
at all. If I have an issue with my
son I would go and meet him. I still
handle his corporate shows because
nobody else can do that for now. I
am only one person and I am not a
young person and he is going
bigger every day. This is not
something that should have been
misconceived at all.”
Geena Davis Is Returning To Tv,Books Major Guest Arc On Grey's Anatomy
Geena Davis is going to be scrubbing in at Grey-
Sloan Memorial!
The Oscar winner has booked a major guest arc on
the upcoming 11th season of Grey's Anatomy, the
actress' rep and ABC confirmed Friday to E! News.
While she starred in the 2012 A&E miniseries
Coma, a remake of the chilling 1978 movie of the
same name, this marks Davis' return to a network
series since she starred on the well-received yet
short-lived Commander in Chief.
We knew that Shonda Rhimes would know how to
shake things up now that Sandra Oh has left the
building!
Davis will play--surprise, surprise--a surgeon on
the still-chugging medical drama, but no other
details were forthcoming.
The 58-year-old actress, who received an Emmy
nomination for playing U.S. President Mackenzie
Allen on Commander in Chief, was most recently
in Lake Bell's feature directorial debut, In a
World..., and has the indie comedy Me Him Her in
the works.
Also quite notably, Davis and her partner in Oscar-
nominated crime, Susan Sarandon, channeled
Thelma & Louise this year when the stunning
redheads posed for another epic selfie, 23 years
after their characters' impromptu Polaroid left a
lasting impression.
Meanwhile, Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC in
September, and presumably Ellen Pompeo's
Meredith will be dealing with both McDreamy's
D.C. job offer and a half-sister she'll be meeting
any day now.
Geena Davis had better buckle her seatbelt--plot
bumps ahead.

Amal Alamuddin 'Very happy' to marry George Clooney But Worried About One Thing
Amal Alamuddin is getting closer and closer to
becoming Mrs. George Clooney!
On Thursday, the couple was issued their
certificate of no impediment (CNI) from U.K.
authorities, a source confirms to E! News. This
means, essentially, that Britain has declared them
legally fit to wed! Before this, though, the the
actor's fiancé filed an official notice of intent to
marry last month at Chelsea Town Hall in London,
and, as a source tells E! News exclusively, the
bride-to-be seemed "very happy" at her
appointment!
So why wasn't her future hubby in tow? Because
George is not a British national, his presence was
not required. Understandably, though, a source
says "many of the ladies in the office were very
disappointed that they weren't going to meet
George as many of them are fans."
But while George's love was "happy" during her
appointment, she quite concerned about one
thing. According to source, she told the registrar
she "was worried about the press finding out the
date of the wedding..."
Luckily for Amal, though, she wasn't required to
specify the exact date of her upcoming nuptials on
her notice of intent to marry! After her
appointment, which reportedly took about half an
hour, Amal and George's notice of intent was
displayed in public at the registrar's office for 21
days. During that time, objections could be made
if the future bride or groom were already married,
too young or related to their potential spouse.
On Wednesday night, though, those 21 days were
up and the future spouses were in the clear! A
source tells E! News their notice of intent was
taken down and shredded, and the following day,
another person picked up the couple's CNI. So, as
it stands, George and Amal's pre-wedding prep in
the U.K. is complete, although there will be some
additional Italian requirements as their wedding is
in Italy.
Those requirements, which include getting
documents legalized for Italy and translated,
aren't overly involved. In fact, a source tells E!
News, it should only take two to three days
maximum for everything to be approved.
Meaning? We haven't gotten our invite quite yet,
but the Alamuddin-Clooney nuptials could be
happening sooner than you think!

Slow Sex Is The Latest,Hottest Sex Trend
I was prompted to write this column
the other day after I was propositioned by a
very charming, but woefully naïve, man. Let’s
call him Garçon.
After arranging a drinks meet, Garçon told me
that he believed I would make a good person to
teach him about slow sex.
‘I’m very experienced,’ he said. ‘I’ve had had
sex with many women – and many different
types of women. But this slow sex, this
“intimacy”, thing is something I’d like to try
now. And I think you would be good for this;
that you could teach me this.’
Also read: 4 things guys think when you go
down on them
Garçon added that he wasn’t interested in a
relationship, that he was in love with several
other women, and that he didn’t ‘do’ dates. The
upside for me was that we would have fun.
Sounds like a win-win right? Obviously I
declined his smashing offer.
‘Slow sex’ is really just a rebranding of several
Tantric tenets, and is now on the market as a
spin-off of the slow food movement.
If you don’t know, ‘slow food’ started off as the
soft backlash against the conveyer-belt,
"bigger-better-best" attitude to food we
consume. The idea is that adding time, quality
ingredients and care to the production of your
artisanal red velvet cupcake, for example, will
make for a better eating experience than the
McMuffin you threw down your gob this
morning.
Slow food principles apply nicely to sex: invest
your time, quality and care to your love-making
and your experience will simply be better.
Also read: 4 reasons men love seeing you
orgasm
Basically it is the exact opposite of the McFuck
hook-up culture. It’s about taking time to
explore whole-body pleasure as opposed to
rushing to penetration and orgasm. It’s about
learning the slow, deep grind as opposed to
banging away relentlessly until you’ve
‘achieved’ orgasm in under a minute.
It is being present, not getting lost in a fantasy.
It’s using all your senses instead of focusing
attention just on your genitals. It’s being honest
about where your body is at instead of trying to
force fun or orgasm with gadgets, gimmicks
and crazy positions.
Mostly? It’s about cultivating intimacy and
connection: making love with your eyes open.
It’s an uncomfortable space for people used to
distracting themselves away from being
emotionally open and vulnerable.
Tantricas will call it ‘building a fire’; the slow
and steady, the bliss dance, riding the wave...
in this space you’re not concerned with how
you look, performance anxiety or being the best
lay. You’re taking the time to touch, taste and
just to be physically, emotionally and spiritually
present with the person you’re into.
It’s not something you hook up with the
Garçons of the world to do. You don’t give
someone gems when they’re offering you
potatoes.
You try slow sex with the man or woman you
trust and love. Or at least with someone you
trust to be as emotionally open as you will be.
I find it interesting that these ancient principles
of human sexual and emotional connection are
finding resurgence just as the Cult of Whatever
and the pornification of our sex lives is
snowballing to epic proportions. But we’re
human after all, and no amount of balling is
going to override our need to connect.
Maybe it’s a pity that slow sex is something we
need to learn to do. But, then again, no one
becomes a great cook without a recipe at some
point.

Suarez Bid For Ban Reduction
Luis Suarez arrived in Lausanne on
Friday morning to plead his case before the
Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to halve his
four-month FIFA ban for biting.
Barcelona's Uruguyan striker, in a blue checked
shirt and jeans, was tight-lipped as he ran the
gauntlet of press photographers on his way into
the hearing shortly before 10 am local time
(0800 GMT).
Suarez was banned from all football-related
activity for four months after biting Italy
defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder during
a World Cup group game in the Brazilian city of
Natal.

He subsequently left Liverpool for Barcelona in a
95 million-euro ($127 million) deal but will
have to wait until late October before he can
play for his new club.
His legal team said on Thursday they were
confident of obtaining a reduction of the ban to
two months, meaning the former Liverpool
striker would be available to play from 25
August, and for him to be allowed to train with
Barcelona for the duration of his suspension.
The verdict was not expected for several days.
Jonathan Declares State Of Emergency Over Ebola
President Goodluck Jonathan declared a
national state of emergency on Friday over the
Ebola outbreak in Africa's most populous
country, and approved 1.9 billion naira ($11.7
million) of emergency funds to contain it.
Nigeria has confirmed seven cases of Ebola in
its commercial capital Lagos since a man fell
sick on arrival from Liberia, two of whom have
died. Several dozen people who came into
contact with the man are under surveillance.
Jonathan's spokesman Reuben Abati said the
money would pay to "strengthen steps to
contain the virus such as ... additional isolation
centres, case management, contact tracing,
deployment of additional personnel, screening at
borders, and the procurement of required items
and facilities".
More Ebola stories: NNPC shuts clinic after
suspected Ebola case admitted
The World Health Organization (WHO) said on
Friday that West Africa's Ebola epidemic
constituted an international health emergency
and the virus, which has killed nearly 1,000
people, could continue spreading for months.
The prospect of Ebola in Lagos, Africa's biggest
city with 21 million people, has ratcheted up
alarm about its spread.
Jonathan warned against "spreading false
information about Ebola which can lead to mass
hysteria, panic and misdirection, including
unverified suggestions about the prevention,
treatment, cure and spread of the virus."
He also urged religious leaders to avoid holding
large gatherings that might spread the virus, a
reference to the many "megachurches" that can
draw tens of thousands of faithful from around
the West Africa region to their services.
He asked schools to extend their summer
holidays and "urged that the movement of
corpses from one community to the other, and
from overseas into the country should be
stopped forthwith".
All deaths from sickness should be reported to
the authorities, he added. The state of
emergency is expected to stay in place until the
outbreak is contained.
Abacha Loot:US To Return $480million To Nigeria
The U.S has taken control of $480million which
is part of money stolen by former military
dictator General Sani Abacha, after a court ruling
in D.C on Wednesday August 6th. The U.S
Department of Justice will now hand over the
stolen money to Nigerian government, U.S
government spokesman said yesterday.
According to court documents, late General
Abacha, his son Mohammed Sani Abacha, their
associate Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and others
embezzled, misappropriated, extorted money
from the Nigerian government and stashed them
in various banks across the world. Continue...
During investigations, $303 million was found in
two bank accounts operated by Abacha and his
cronies in the British offshore center of Jersey
while $144 million was also found in 2 bank
accounts they operated in France. Continue...
They also operated three accounts in the UK and
Ireland which had at least $27m. Investigations
are still being carried out on claims to another
$148 million in four investment portfolios in the
UK.
Prosecutors say they laundered funds by buying
bonds backed by the United States using U.S.
financial institutions including banks such as the
Deutsche Bank AG, HSBC Holding Plc and
Banque SBA.
Assistant Attorney General, Leslie Caldwell said
in the statement “Rather than serve his county,
General Abacha used his public office in Nigeria
to loot millions of dollars, engaging in brazen
acts of kleptocracy".
In June 2014, after a 16 year court battle,
Nigeria was able to recover $228 million stolen
by Abacha and his associates and deposited in
Liechtenstein.

Man Who Killed Wealthy Lagos Lover Tell His Own Side Of Story
On July 19,2014,around 2am,a 39 year
old Wealthy divorcee and mother of
four Njideka Lizzy Nzewe, was killed by
her lover who fled.They reportedly
went to the bank that day where she
withdrew N4m meant for a trip with
her kids to the US the next day.
Luckily,the 31 year old suspect,Kelechi
Williams was caught with her Range
Rover SUV at the at the border between
Ghana and Cote D’Ivore .While paraded
by the Police,Kelechi who is said to
have done thanksgiving in a Ghanaian
church, claiming he just bought the
Range Rover,narrated his story to
reporters
“Lizzy was my girlfriend. I knew
her three years ago. But we started
getting serious in February this
year. I came back from Ghana to
visit her on July 16, 2014 which
was on a Wednesday. The next day
we went out and came back late.
On Friday, she told me to stay back
at home and rest because I was
tired.
She left the house, saying she was
going to the new apartment she
was to pack into, assuring me she
would be back as usual by 6 p.m.
But she did not return by 6pm.
Rather, the gate man came with a
power generating set, saying
madam had gone to drop the
workers.
When it was 8 p.m. and I did not
see her, I started calling her on
phone but she did not pick. I called
her up to 30 times without
response. She came back by
midnight and when I asked why
she did not pick my calls, she said
the phone was in silent mode. I
brought out my phone and called
her line only for it to ring.
At that point I noticed she was
drunk. I got angry and asked if that
was the way she would pay me
back for leaving everything in
Ghana to come and spend time
with her. I threatened to quit the
relationship. But at that point, her
phone rang and I told her to pick it
but she insisted that I should pick it
and when I did, the caller, who was
a male
asked ‘baby are you home?’
Immediately she discovered it was
a male’s voice, she snatched the
phone from me and asked why I
should pick her calls. I reminded
her of a similar incident when she
came to visit me in Ghana and my
phone rang. She pick it and on
discovering it was a female, she
smashed the phone on the ground,
without knowing who the caller
was. I reminded her also that she
collected my other phones from me
and brought them to Nigeria. In
anger, I took the phone and
smashed it on the ground.
Before I knew it, she threw my
things outside, saying I should leave
her house. I told her to give me the
N300,000 she borrowed from me to
buy an air conditioner, if she
wanted me to leave but she said she
had no money with her and gave
me her ATM card which she said
had just
N140,000.
At a point, she slapped me and we
started fighting. She held on to my
manhood and started stretching it.
That was when I held the wrapper
that was around her neck and used
it to strangle her, thereby forcing
her to let go my manhood. She fell
down and became motionless.
Immediately, I took her three
phones, ATM card and went outside
to meet the gate man to see me off
to any ATM machine, where I
withdrew N100,000. I dropped the
gateman at home, and told him I
was going to pump the tyre. At that
point, I knew I was in trouble. I did
not go back to her house for fear of
being arrested.
I drove straight to Mile Two, from
where I picked a driver who drove
me down to Ghana. I spent some
days in Ghana before I decided to
leave for Cote d’Ivoire, where
unfortunately I was arrested.
I never wanted to kill her. I have
never fought in my life, let alone
kill somebody. I did not also steal
her jewellery and N8 million as
claimed by the Police. The only
money I withdrew was N100,000
and her phone.
On his part, the gate man, John
Tungwim, said ....
“He told me he was going to the
club with madam but that she asked
him to go and withdraw money
with her ATM card first. I went
with him because I know madam’s
pin code. But we came back, he
told me to go inside that madam
said she was tired and could not
go. So, he drove out alone. I never
suspected anything until the next
day when I did not see madam. I
called one of the children’s
attention to it. Out of curiosity, I
climbed a ladder only to discover
that madam was on the floor
foaming in her
mouth. I contacted her brother who
called in the police.”
