"We Don't Know The Location Of Chibok Girls"US

The United States on Friday said it had reduced its
surveillance flights in the search for the about 219
schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in Chibok, Borno
State, over two months ago, but added that the
overall effort has not been affected due to more
flights by other countries.
It also stated that it had no idea where the girls are
located, noting however that there is no giving up in
the efforts to locate and rescue them.
This revelation might just be an indication that the US
and Nigerian military authorities are working at
cross-purposes because we recall that the Chief of
Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, while
addressing members of an NGO, the Citizen Initiative
for Security Awareness (CISA) last month, said
categorically: “The good news for parents of the girls
is that we know where they are but we cannot tell
you. We cannot come and tell you the military’s
secret. Just leave us alone to do our work. We are
working to get the girls back”.
But Pentagon spokesman, Rear Admiral John Kirby
told reporters, according to Reuters that “We don’t
have any better idea today than we did before about
where these girls are, but there’s been no letup of the
effort itself”.
Kirby said the same level of effort was being
sustained now through the involvement of the
international community.
The Pentagon spokesman, however, denied a
suggestion that US flights over Nigeria had been
reduced to accommodate increased US surveillance
over Iraq, where Washington is flying unmanned and
manned aircraft to gather intelligence about Sunni
insurgents.
He noted that some of the resources that were being
used in Nigeria had been diverted from other missions
in Africa and could now be used elsewhere on the
continent.
US military personnel are in Abuja helping to
coordinate the effort to rescue the abducted girls
while some 80 others were deployed to Chad last
month to support the surveillance operation.
Chad shares border with Nigeria on the North-East,
specifically, Borno, which is regarded as Boko
Haram’s stronghold.
In the last month, US officials had downplayed
expectations about a swift rescue of the girls and
stressed the limitations of intelligence from
surveillance flights.
One US official particularly raised concerns that the
insurgents might have booby-trapped areas where
the girls could be held, and there had been reports
that they might have been split up into groups as
against being held in one place.
The defence official said surveillance alone would not
lead to a resolution noting that “It will take the
Nigerian piece of the equation with their own sources
and human intelligence coupled with the other forms
to really understand the picture”.

"I May Not Marry A Pretty Woman"-Orezi

Esegine Allen hit the airwave with his hit single,
Rihanna. Now with over 100 singles in his kitty
including the track, YouGarrit and Shoki, he talks
about music
What are you working on currently?
I have a new song titled Shoki. I am working on the
concept of the video. I am trying to make it global.
What is ‘Shoki’ all about?
Shoki is a dance that is in vogue at the moment. I
got the inspiration for the song a couple of weeks
ago while hanging out with a group of friends at
Fela’s shrine in Lagos. I saw some people dancing
and when I asked, they told me it was Shoki, a new
dance.  The following day, I went into the studio and
recorded the song. The record was released on
March 27, a day before my birthday and the
acceptance has been very encouraging.
Do you have a full album out?
No, but the demand for an album has been
increasing daily and I am going to drop an album
very soon. I have always had songs that could make
an album. At the moment, we have close to 100
recorded songs. A large percentage of music lovers
are tuned to Orezi at the moment and that is a sign
for me to drop an album.
What satisfaction do you get from your art?
It is a growing process. Each single I drop is always
better than the last one. From ‘Booty bounce’ to
‘Rihanna’ and ‘YouGarrit’, the acceptance has been
very encouraging. ‘Rihanna’ is my biggest song,
judging from awards, acceptance and U-Tube views
it has received. It fetched me three awards and I am
hoping to win more.
Do you think making an album is going to be more
financially rewarding than producing singles?
In Nigeria, artistes do not make money from
albums. This is due to the fact that it involves
making arrangement with marketers for a pay off or
percentage of proceeds from the album sales. Most
Nigerian artistes usually settle for pay off which
may not exceed N5m at most. An album cost more
than N5m to produce. But albums increase
acceptance, popularity and fan base, which is where
the money comes from.
How long have you been singing?
Professionally, I have been singing since 2009.  But I
have always been a music lover right from the
university. I recorded a song during my 300 level.
After I graduated from the university, I decided to
embrace a career in music and the first person I
sang with was Dr. Fabz.
How are you faring in the music business?
Before now, I used to think I deserve more since I
have put in a lot of work and I have the best videos
out there. Although I know people who came after
me who are more famous than me, I still believe
God’s time is the best. The music industry in Nigeria
has reached a point where everyone has a
destination. As long as one does not allow the fame
of others to be a source of concern, one will excel.
Sometimes, I feel depressed when I think I have been
around for a while and I am yet to get to where I am
supposed to get to.
How do you deal with disappointments?
In Nigeria, people are supposed to be used to
disappointment. There are things that are always
there to make you disappointed. I take each day as
it comes and I commit everything into God’s hands.
Tell us about your background
My name is Orezi.  Orezi means, one who is destined
to be great. It is an Isoko name. I am the first child
of my parents and I have four lovely siblings. My
family is close-knit and my parents are loving and
supportive. I was born in Ibadan when my parents
were based there. When I was two years old, the
family relocated to Lagos. My family members are
my greatest fans and biggest critics. I respect their
views because I know that they will never lie to me.
My secondary school was in the east. I am a
graduate of Urban and Regional planning from the
University of Lagos.
Are you planning to work with your degree?
I intend to practise. I am trying to be famous
because I think it will help me in future. I don’t intend
to stay too long with music though. If I have three
albums, I will switch to music production and
promotion.
What inspired your song ‘YouGarrit’?
It was a spin-off from the effect of ‘Rihanna’. After
the huge success of ‘Rihanna’, I needed to do
another song but I did not want to do the same
thing. I wanted to do an Afrobeat, rock and jam song
that people can dance to.
Is your genre strictly hip hop or do you sometimes
diversify?
My music cuts across all genres. In Nigeria, we
don’t really have a genre of music that all the
artistes are adopting. If I had my way, after this
album, I will drop an all-reggae album because
reggae is my best music.  My biggest song has been
dancehall, but because I need to satisfy the Nigerian
audience, I have concentrated more on Afrobeat. I
can do any kind of sound.
Kindly describe yourself…
I am a cool person who is accommodating and that
is why people like me. I like a close relationship with
my fans, so I don’t have protocols around who
would prevent fans from reaching me. An artiste is a
man of the people. There is a way to manage a
situation when fans try to abuse one’s accessibility
but it does not mean they should be shut out
completely.
What would make you fall in love with a lady?
Apart from the fact that she has to be pretty, I also
watch out for good character. If the character is
good, I may not care about the looks. I may not
even marry a pretty woman because my mother
says a pretty woman belongs to more than one
man.
So your girlfriend is not pretty?
I don’t have a girlfriend
Why?
I have a lot of female friends but I don’t have a
girlfriend.  I wish I had. The thing about relationships
is that you need someone who understands you and
who will always be around you. It is sweeter than
being with different women. I am the kind of person
who always wants to be around people I love. I grew
up in a very affectionate family and I know how to
give affection.
Describe your style
I like fashion a lot. I like to be flashy and to be
spotted in the crowd. I don’t like following trends
because my style speaks volumes of my personality.

"I Didn't Buy My Car On Loan"-Ice Prince

Chocolate City artiste, Ice Prince, talks about fame
and music, JAYNE AUGOYE writes
Over time, the ostentatious lifestyle of the average
Nigerian artiste has been a source of concern to
many music fans. Considering the unstable nature of
‘superstardom,’ it is a common belief that many who
fail to plan suffer for it. As such, there appears to be
an unending debate over how these artistes manage
fame and control their finances.
For 27-year-old Panshak Zamani, also known as Ice
Prince or Chocolate City Golden Boy, who lives like a
true superstar, there are clearly no limits to how false
stories are peddled around many Nigerian artistes.
Ice Prince is the proud owner of a Bentley GT, a
Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle, among others.
Laying to rest some speculations that his Bentley
was bought with a loan facility from a bank, the
2013 BET Awards winner says, “No, it is not true! It
was paid for! Bought it in Abuja from Sir Kefiano! He
has got all brands of vehicles! “
On how he handles his earnings and fame, Ice Prince
gives a word of advice to fellow celebrities, “As an
artiste, it is good to have real life mentors and
people that handle your finances. It is better to put
yourself on a salary instead of just blowing the
money as it comes and life will be easier.
“You need to also understand that the life of an
artiste is usually very expensive. So, One needs to be
cautious. It is quite a new experience to have fame
and all that. Sometimes it’s a problem managing all
of them. But one thing that keeps me focused is that
I always remember where I’m coming from, no
matter where I am. While there is always pressure to
keep up with trends, I believe that it pays more to be
yourself and be real to the world around you.”
Despite the fact that he became famous as a hip hop
artiste, the singer chooses to be referred to as a
musician that raps.
“I really do all kinds of things with my music and I
like to dream bigger than just a rapper. I know how
to use my voice to sing, chant and do stuff that is
not necessarily rap. So I like to be seen more in that
light of a guy who can expresses himself with his
voice however he feels more comfortable.”
One area which strikes a chord in his heart is what is
left of his hometown, Jos. He becomes emotional
when asked to speak about his views on the current
crisis that has engulfed the once peaceful city.
“It’s really sad because growing up in Jos was like
the best thing that ever happened to all of us from
that part of the country. It used to be the most
peaceful place on earth. It provided us an enabling
environment to express ourselves and grow into
what we are. So, it is really sad to see what is going
on right before us.”
On his relationship with his son, the single father of
one says, “My son is a blessing and I’m grateful to
God for giving me him. I have a cordial relationship
with the mother of his son. We are good, just trying
to bring the boy up.”
The singer, who once admitted that he dropped out
of the University of Jos where he was studying
Zoology because of financial constraint, says he
plans to go back to school some day.
“I intend to one day get some real education and
study something else apart from what I know now,
which is music. But truly, I can’t say when I’m going
back to school yet. I pray I get the chance to do so
one day. I’ll love to study History,” he says.
Apart from music, he is also involved in some
projects. He says, “I am working with a few artistes
at the moment under my # SuperCoolCat outfit. This
is not a label but a collection of young people with
the same dream working together.
“There’s a girl called Ruth Cobhamz who I can’t wait
for the world to listen to; an amazing rapper called
Stunt and a few producers, such as Sammy Gyang,
Chopstix, City monster GRU and TMXO, who just
produced my newest track with Joell Ortiz and MI.”

Chris Brown Rejects BET Reality TV Show Offer

While BET has shown interest in handling a reality
tv series involving the life of CB, the singer/
dancer has calmly rejected the offer and says he
isnt interested in venturing in such business.
Popular entertainment platform, TMZ caught up
with the singer, and when asked if he would ever
take up a stint on reality TV, he responded, “Nah,
not for me, man”.
So it looks like we won’t be tuning into Brown’s
life on a weekly basis after all.

"I Want A Woman Who Can Go To The Saloon With Me,Not Hypocritical,Fame Seeking"-Denrele Edun

Denrele Edun who just turned 31 talked about gay
allegations and dating ladies..He also
denied bleaching and talked about his
scandal with Charly boy..Ladies would
be happy because he is actually single
and searching...
"I am not dating anybody for now.
I am single and searching.Eh! My
people, make una come put ring o!
My mother has been mounting
pressure. My father has been
telling me. My uncle, my
grandmother, everyone wan make I
marry.I think when that time
comes, I will marry. I have been
into many relationships. I have
dated girls who would want to do
anything I tell them. I want a
woman who can hold her own. I
don’t want a woman who cannot
make dialogue with me. I don’t
want a woman who will want to
change me because she should
already know who Denrele is. I
don’t want to hear, “my father said
you cannot dress like that” I will be
like, “Oya, come and carry your
witch and go. And return me my
bride price before you go”. I want a
woman who is not pretentious,
hypocritical or a fame seeker. I
want someone who is original. I
want somebody I can go to the
salon together (with) to make our
hair; who wouldn’t mind if people
are talking. I love a woman that
can wear heels. It may sound
flimsy. I love girls on heels. This is
why I have always had a thing for
models. If my wife cannot wear
heels...
Here you are talking about marriage, while
people have described you as gay. What do
you have to say?
I’m aware of it. In fact, a lot of
people have come with different
terminologies for my sexual
preference. They have labelled me
homosexual, heterosexual. Some
have said I am bi-sexual, asexual. I
think I am a sexual outlaw; that is
the best way to describe it. Am I
gay? I am a sexual outlaw. Gbam!
What does that mean?
I don’t know. I don’t even know
what my sexual preference is. The
media have blown my sexuality out
of proportion. Maybe it is because I
am feminine in nature, or because
I look like my mother or because of
the way I dress. My clothes are the
reflection of my personality, but
people use it to judge my sexual
preference. And if people want to
continually judge me because of my
dressing, they should go ahead.
Does it mean you are not gay?
People can say what they like. You
know, this can be a mystery. If
people keep pondering on it, it will
remain a mystery. If I give the
answer now, una no go dey wonder
about anything. Make una dey
ponder dey go.
Are you using this to keep the attention on
yourself?
Not quite; it’s just for the fun of it,
really. I am not one of those people
who would want to deliberate on
people’s sexual preference. I really
cannot be bothered about things
like that. But it is so funny how
people have made a big deal out of
it. It’s not about attention.
Otherwise, I would have been suing
this or that newspaper for saying
this or that thing about me. I really
can’t be bothered.
What is the worst thing that has
happened to you for being who you are?
I think it is the scandals. And I can
handle scandals well but people
have fabricated so much about me.
They say I have a child somewhere
that I have abandoned. They say I
am bleaching my skin – that is even
the one they are using to chase me
up and down. If only people can
see me when I wake up in the
morning, then they will know
whether I am bleaching on not.
Would you like to clear the air on that?
Of recent, I discovered my love for
powder. I normally like to wear the
one that is lighter than me, so
anytime I use this powder and my
face becomes fairer, people will
begin to say I am bleaching.
Someone recently said to me on
Twitter: ‘Denrele has bleached his
destiny away’. Another said,
‘Denrele is looking like Michael
Jackson in his time of death’.
Somebody said, ‘Denrele looks like
the remains of a ghastly car crash’.
This is the one that will trip you.
The person said, ‘Denrele looks like
the spirit behind this recent fuel
scarcity’. I thought that was a
classic one. I have received a lot
from people, especially during the
period I went through the Charly
Boy/Denrele saga. They said I
kissed Charly Boy and I was trying
to cause problems in his
matrimonial home. Nigerians took
it upon themselves to judge the
freaking daylight out of me. They
tried to pull me down at any
opportunity they could get. But for
where? Nothing can put me down.

Usain Bolt Ready To Compete In The Common Wealth Games

Six times Olympic champion and world fastest
man usain bolt will be competing in this years
common wealth games Glasgow 2014.
Dough Bolt is unlikely to take part in an individual
event at the common wealth games but could run
in the relay.
The 27 year old, who won gold medals in the
100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at the 2008 and
2012 Olympics, has been struggling with a foot
injury.
“I am available for selection for the
Commonwealth Games and have submitted the
relevant documentation,”he said.
In a message on his website Bolt said he was
unable to compete in the Jamaican
Championships this weekend.
the main qualifying event for the Commonwealth
team but he could still make the squad as part of
the relay race.
The statement, titled ‘a message from Usain’,
read: “I am not ready to compete at the
Jamaican Championships this weekend but I
have informed the JAAA that I am available for
selection for the Commonwealth Games in
Glasgow and have submitted the relevant
documentation.
“I do not wish to take the place of anyone who
qualifies this weekend in an individual event but
am available for relay duty if the selectors feel I
can be an asset to the Jamaican team in
Glasgow.
“I have received lots of requests, invitations and
messages of support from my fans in Scotland
who are looking forward to a great event”.
Bolt has never raced in the Commonwealth
Games, having missed the events in Melbourne in
2006 and Delhi four years ago.
However, speaking at the IAAF Centenary Gala in
Barcelona last November, he declared his interest
in competing in Glasgow.
“That’s the only title I don’t have, so I think it’s
something I’d like to go for, even if I do just one
event,” Bolt said.
That event appears likely to be the 4x100m relay.
Jamaica took silver behind England in 2010
but,led by Bolt, won the World Championships
last year.

Ramadan Fasting Begins-NSCIA

Muslims in Nigeria have begun fasting Saturday,
following the sighting of the Ramadan moon,
head of the Moon sighting committee of the
Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs,
[NSCIA], Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, announced
early Saturday in Sokoto, according to the
Nigerian Televison Authority NTA and the
Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, monitored
in Abuja.
The new announcement updates an earlier
statement by the NSCIA, which had asked
Nigerian Muslims to commence the Ramadan
fast on Sunday, because, according to the
Secretary-General of the body, Ishaq Oloyede, a
professor of Islamic studies, the moon had not
been sighted.
The annual obligatory Ramadan fast is one of
the five pillars of Islam, and the Prophet
Muhammad is reported to have said:
“Commence fasting when you sight the
(Ramadan) crescent and terminate fasting when
you sight the (Shawwal) crescent.
“But if the sky is cloudy, then, count 30 days of
Sha’ban or of Ramadan as the case may be”.
Mr. Oloyede’s Thursday statement had hinted
that: “However, if the crescent is not sighted on
Friday, the Tarawih prayer should be observed
on Saturday the 28th of June for the
commencement of Ramadan on the 29th of June
whether or not it is sighted on that Saturday,” it
said.
Below is the full text of Mr. Oloyede’s Thursday
statement.
Muslims in Nigeria have been advised to look for
the new crescent of Ramadan on Friday, June
27.
This is contained in a statement from the
Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs,
NSCIA, on Wednesday in Abuja, signed by its
Secretary General, Is-haq Oloyede.
Mr. Oloyede also stated that members of the
National Moon Sighting Committee have been
deployed with appropriate gadgets to various
parts of the country for easy sighting of the
moon.
“However, other individuals who are able to
sight the crescent are requested to contact,
through appropriate authorities, any of the
following:
“1. The President-General of NSCIA and the
Sultan of Sokoto Tel: 08036470422 2.
2. The Deputy President-General (North) of the
NSCIA and the Shehu of Borno Tel:
08037855555, 08023549558 3.
3. The Secretary – General Tel: 08034540120.
4. The Emir of Gwandu and all other Emirs Tel:

5. The Lamido of Adamawa Tel: 07056344449.
6. The Etsu NupeTel: 08039668707.
